Story

Pokemon Sour Crystal is an ‘improvement hack’ of Pokemon Crystal that has been 5 years in the making, created with the mindset of updating Crystal to current-gen standards but without losing the nostalgic feel of the original. The hack has many features that may make playing it more comfortable for newer players such as the “PPS” system (Pokeride).

  • Kanto now has Headbutt trees
  • All HGSS-exclusive routes and trainers have been ported
  • Trade Evolutions can now also be obtained by using a new item called the Linking Cord or by simply using the item required for trading on the Pokémon. (King’s Rock, Metal Coat, etc.)

This Hack DOES NOT include:

Known Bugs

  • Cut trees will overlap the player’s sprite while it disappears

IMPORTANT: Previous save files and PKHEX are no longer compatible. However, wild pokemon gameshark codes and trading with vanilla still work.

  • Dynamic Overworld Palette System: More colors can now be used on specific maps.
  • Dynamic Sprite System: Greater sprite variety is available on certain maps.
  • Overworld Weather: Route 33 and Lake of Rage will nearly always have rain. Additionally, one random route in both Johto and Kanto will have rain each day.
  • Doublespeed Mode: The game now runs at double speed for faster processing and reduced lag.
  • New Party Icons: Over 100 new party icons have been added.

  • New Trading Cutscene: A custom trading animation utilizing GBC features has been introduced.
  • Version Number Display: The main menu now shows the version number.

Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved a warp issue at Fuchsia City’s South Gate.
  • Fixed the issue where the Fossil at Mt. Moon sometimes didn’t appear.
  • Addressed the problem with obtaining the Curse TM.
  • Teleport now functions properly in Trainer Battles.
  • Corrected trainer parties in challenge mode.
  • Updated Gentleman Alfred’s phone call text.
  • Fixed various typos throughout the game.
  • Rectified visual issues on Routes 5, 6, and 12.
  • Addressed issues with the Safari Game, including ball usage and encounter mechanics.
  • Corrected the screen fade issue after catching a Pokémon in the Safari Game.
  • Fixed Trainer rematch behavior inconsistencies.
  • The Rock Smash Pager now operates correctly from the Pokégear menu.
