Description

This ROM hack of Pokémon Red and Blue aims to expand the Kanto region with new Kanto-related Pokémon, more interesting locations, and Quality of Life (QoL) improvements. It originally started as a Showdown mod on the DragonHeaven server (playable here) and has since evolved into a full ROM hack.

Important

For the best experience on emulators, BGB is highly recommended due to its accuracy and features. Inaccurate emulators like VBA and TGB Dual may encounter glitches. The hack is also fully playable on original Game Boy hardware.

Features Summary

  • 100 New Pokémon: Includes post-Gen 1 evolutions like Kingdra and Rhyperior, Pokémon from prototype assets like Gorochu and Kotora, cut evolutions from the Spaceworld 1997 demo, regional variants, convergent evolutions (e.g. Wiglett and Toedscool), Paradox forms (e.g. Scream Tail and Sandy Shocks), and even Meltan and Melmetal.
  • New Types: Incorporates Dark, Steel, and Fairy types for new Pokémon, but classic types remain unchanged for some, like Clefable being Normal. The type chart follows the Spaceworld 1997 demo, so expect a unique balance.
  • New Moves & Items: Added new moves for the new types, two prototype moves from Red and Green, a new fossil, evolution items, and Bottle Caps.
  • Expanded Locations: Several new areas added for world-building, post-game content, and improved exploration.
  • Music Additions: New tracks for Legendary battles, Team Rocket, and restored prototype tracks. (Find the music playlist by LuciShrimp.)
  • Area Enhancements: Some areas are visually improved, with new content or easier navigation.
  • QoL Improvements: Play as a feminine character, no version exclusives, more item capacity, additional PC boxes, better Exp. All, Gym Leader and Elite Four rematches, and more.
  • Bug Fixes: Translation and overworld bug fixes, while preserving Gen 1 battle quirks like the infamous Focus Energy bug.
