Description

Explore the Fukala Region, a series of islands in the far west that the Pokemon League recently discovered. Your goal as a trainer is to put the brand-new gyms to the test. Discover the secrets of these exotic islands, but be cautious—some residents are antagonistic to the Pokemon League and may desire for its demise.

Pokemon Coastal is a Fire Red ROM hack that stays faithful to the Gen 3 experience. The single addition from following generations is one Gym Leader Pokemon that the player can use. Aside from that, you can enjoy the usual FireRed experience in a new locale. Three Legendary Pokemon are also available, hiding off the main path.

This hack is difficult and may necessitate grinding at some points, particularly after the seventh Gym. However, I believe the difficulty is balanced until that point.

I (RandomAce42) am not a sprite artist, so I used established character sprites to represent new ones. For example, the Gym Leaders are based on people I know in real life, but they use sprites from other Gym Leaders or Elite Four members. Blaine’s sprite depicts a character named Azure, while Maxie’s sprite from Emerald is used for Gym Leader #8, who is based on a friend. Remember that these characters differ from the originals, whose sprites are used.

Plot

Welcome to the Fukala region! Fukala is located far to the west. It consists of numerous sparse islands of varying sizes. Fukala’s people do not have a Pokemon League. Professor Oak has been tasked with assisting in the construction of one.

You’re Professor Oak’s assistant. His right-hand man. You’ve come with him to Fukala to help him set up and test the League. You will assist the professor with various research tasks as well.

This adventure will be difficult. Although Fukala lacks an official competitive scene, the challenge of surviving the harsh islands has hardened both the people and their Pokemon.
