Want to relive the old days with some improvements? Pokemon Red & Blue Celebrations is a nostalgic remake and revamp of Pokemon Perfect Red & Blue, designed for those who love the original games but want to experience them with quality-of-life updates and enhancements. This version adds new features while preserving the magic of the classic adventure, making it 100% playable from start to finish.

Pokemon Red & Blue Celebrations is the perfect blend of classic nostalgia and modern enhancements, offering a fresh yet faithful experience for both returning fans and newcomers alike. Dive back into the Kanto region, where the adventure that started it all gets even better!

Features

  • Play as a Female Character: For the first time, experience Gen 1 as a girl trainer!
  • Complete Pokédex without Trading: All 151 Pokémon can be caught or evolved within the game, no need for trading.
  • Mew Under the Truck Event Restored: The infamous Mew under the truck rumor is now a reality—find Mew where the legends say!
  • Tradeback NPC in Celadon Mart: A new NPC on Celadon Mart 1F helps evolve trade-only Pokémon, making them accessible without trading.
  • Both Fossils in Mt. Moon: Now you can take both the Dome and Helix Fossils from Mt. Moon.
  • Balanced Trainer Teams: Trainer teams are now more varied, with fewer repetitive Pokémon (no more teams of five Pidgeys).
  • Higher Level Fossils and Gifts: Revived Aerodactyl, Omanyte, and Kabuto start at level 44, the Gift Lapras in Saffron is now level 34, and the Eevee from Celadon Roof is level 30.
  • Gust Now a Flying Type: Gust is properly classified as a Flying-type move instead of Normal.
  • Expanded Early-Game Pokémon: Pokémon like Magmar, Electabuzz, and Staryu are now available on earlier routes (consult documentation for details).
  • Reusable TMs: All TMs are now infinite-use, just like in newer generations.
  • Buffed Trainers: Gym Leaders, Rivals, Team Rocket, and other trainers have stronger teams, moves, and levels—some even reflect their anime and Let’s Go Pikachu counterparts.
  • Move Relearner in Fuchsia: Relearn forgotten moves with the Move Relearner in Fuchsia City.
  • Move Deleter in Vermilion: The Move Deleter is now available in Vermilion City, making it possible to remove unwanted HMs.
  • Updated Overworld Pokémon Icons: No more generic icons—all overworld Pokémon now have accurate sprites.
  • Updated Party Mini Sprites: Party sprites have been refreshed for a more modern look.
  • Caught Pokémon Icon in Battle HUD: See if you’ve already caught a Pokémon directly in the battle HUD.
  • Updated Learnsets: Pokémon now have updated learnsets based on Pokémon Yellow (e.g., Nidoran learns Double Kick earlier).
  • Charizard Can Learn Fly: Charizard can now learn Fly via HM, as it should!
  • Surfing Pikachu and Raichu: Just like in Pokémon Yellow, Pikachu and Raichu can learn Surf via HM.
  • Engine Bugfixes: Various gameplay bug fixes, including:
    • Attack after waking up from Sleep works correctly.
    • Sleep mechanics now function like in Gen 2, with a maximum of 6 turns.
    • Removed the 25% failure chance for enemy stat-lowering moves.
    • Swift no longer hits through Fly or Dig.
    • Ghost-type moves are now super effective against Psychic-type Pokémon.

Classic Features Added

Note: These features are available in both Classic & Modern versions.

  • Professor Oak Gives You 5 Pokéballs: Receive 5 Pokéballs when you first get your Pokédex.
  • TM Names in Bag and Mart: TMs now show their corresponding moves (e.g., TM24 shows as “TM24 THNDRBLT”).
  • New Gym Leader Overworld Sprites: Credits to Vortiene for the new mini sprites.
  • Expanded Bag Space: Now carry up to 50 items.
  • Auto HM Use: HMs are used automatically when needed (e.g., just touch the water and select “Yes” to Surf).
  • Deletable HMs: You can now delete HMs without needing the Move Deleter.
  • Item Sorting in Bag: Organize your bag more efficiently.
  • Post-Game Oak Battle: Face Professor Oak in an epic post-game battle.
  • Full PC Notification: Get a message when your PC is full.
  • Check IVs and DVs: Hold Start and press Stats to check IVs, or hold Select and press Stats to check DVs.

Modern Features Added

Note: These features are only available in the Modern versions.

  • Portable PC: Access the PC anywhere, making team management easier.
  • Hard Mode with Level Caps: Adds extra challenge with level caps and tougher opponents.
  • Running Shoes: Move faster with running shoes enabled right from the start!
