Introduction

What if, instead of opposing the region’s evil team from the beginning, the player actually worked for them before eventually turning against them? This concept became the foundation for Pokémon Willpower. While other fangames and ROM hacks may explore similar themes, Pokémon Willpower brings a unique approach to this storyline. Built using the Pokémon Essentials v21.1 toolkit, this game takes players on a different kind of journey, challenging their morality and choices as they switch sides.

Backstory

The player and their childhood friend, Hazel, resorted to thievery to get by after growing up homeless. Their lives took a turn for the better when Professor Beech, the most esteemed professor in the Senoden region, took them in. In return for shelter, they helped him with his research, which frequently involved obtaining rare Pokémon and items like the Master Ball. Others in comparable circumstances joined them, creating a group called Team Promeno, which was tucked away in Merton Town—a little-known spot that typical trainers rarely visit.

However, an accident in one of Beech’s labs led the player and Hazel to grow suspicious of him, eventually leaving Team Promeno and resorting to theft once again. This lifestyle didn’t last long, as they were soon caught by the police. Surprisingly, Professor Beech intervened, offering them a second chance and welcoming them back to Team Promeno. This is where the story begins.
