Features from the Original Blaze Black 2

  • The wild Pokémon have been altered in every aspect of the game. Most places now have at least eight Pokémon species, if not more! You’ll be able to complete your PokéDex inside the confines of the game, and the majority of Pokémon will be available by the seventh badge, allowing you to assemble virtually any squad you choose! A number of legendaries aren’t available until after the Elite Four, but aside from that…
  • Almost all of the trainers’ rosters in the game have been modified. The Dome trainers are an exception at the moment because they aren’t really necessary because there isn’t a decent trainer editing tool for B2W2 yet. This has also raised the game’s level curve, so you should anticipate to beat the first round of the Elite Four sometime in the 70s. Gym Leaders, your opponent, and the Elite Four have all been greatly toughened. Gym Leaders will also have different Pokémon amounts based on the style you play; in Normal style, they will have anything from 3 to 5 Pokémon, whilst in Challenge Mode, they will have a full team of six Pokémon. The Elite Four and Champion also hold some surprises in Challenge Mode…
  • Pokémon has undergone numerous changes. These can include their level-up moves, powers, compatibility with Move Tutors and TMs, and even their initial stats. A paper is given that will teach you all you need to know. This also makes obtaining Dream World talents much easier. If you don’t like this particular point, the Vanilla version of the hack removes it.
  • Some attacks have also been changed, such as Pledge moves now having 100 base power and Cut becoming a Grass-type move. This is likewise removed from the hack’s Vanilla version.
  • Evolutions have also undergone some alterations. The majority of them involve altering the trade evolutions; in most situations, you will now be able to just ‘Use’ the item as an evolution stone – for example, using a Magmarizer on a Magmar to develop it – to perform what you would normally need to trade for. For those that evolve by trade but do not require an item, a new item called the Covenant Ore has been introduced and is found in numerous locations throughout the game; it functions as an evolutionary stone, so you can evolve them at any time. Leafeon and Glaceon can now be obtained by using new goods known as Woodland Ore and Frozen Ore to get about their postgame zones. Shelmet and Karrablast, on the other hand, follow a Mantyke pattern in which the other must be present in the party for them to evolve. Finally, some Unovian Pokémon, including as Scraggy, Mienfoo, and Larvesta, have had their evolution levels reduced in order to make them more useable in contrast to the earlier species.
  • Items you acquire and discover laying around the field have been significantly altered – this is usually done to make practically all TMs available before the Elite Four are vanquished. Notable modifications include Flamethrower and Thunderbolt TMs appearing much sooner, as well as an Earthquake TM appearing as early as the seventh gym! It doesn’t quite match Platinum, but it comes close. There will also be a lot of evolution items in the map, such as the Reaper Cloth, Up-Grade, and Protector.
  • A couple of Poké Marts in the area have been updated. Luxury Balls can be purchased in Virbank City, Heart Scales and shards in Driftveil City, and whatever evolution item you choose in the Route 9 department store.
  • There have been some text updates; a few are scattered references, but the most are to make the item changes make sense with the speech. Furthermore, Juniper’s opening speech has been altered; this is a sign that the hack is working properly.
  • One-time encounter Pokémon like Cobalion, Virizion, Volcarona, Braviary, and others have had their levels raised to match the new level curve. Furthermore, there is a far larger range of one-time encounters, most of which deal with legendaries. Have you ever imagined that you couldn’t discover Articuno in front of Twist Mountain, or Kyogre in the Abyssal Ruins? Well, you can now! You’ll be able to unlock some of these around the eighth gym badge, while the rest will be available after the Pokémon League. Are you willing to catch them all?
  • Some of the trades within the game have also been edited, and given much better IVs. Players will now be able to trade for a Togepi, a Gengar, and an Exeggutor before the Elite Four is dealt with. Note that any trades with Yancy and Curtis are not changed.
  • New events have been added to the game. Apart from the aforementioned overworlds, there are also Gym Leader rematches outside the PWT, the ability to challenge Hoenn Leaders at various points in the game, Harlequins who will give out starters, and even the ability to battle with Hilbert and Hilda! You’ll also be given the keys for Easy Mode and Challenge Mode almost right at the beginning of the game!
  • The Pokémon that appear in Unova’s Hidden Grottos have also been altered. This is the major way to obtain the starter Pokémon that you do not receive, although it also contains a huge variety of additional Pokémon. If you’re playing the Vanilla version, you’ll need to keep your Pokémon in check! Most Pokémon with beneficial DW skills will be there in some form or another.
  • There have also been some TM replacements. Say goodbye to Sky Drop, Quash and Struggle Bug, for they’ve now been replaced by Hurricane, Sucker Punch, and Bug Buzz respectively.
